about

The illustrious Venetian composer Antonio Lucio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was originally trained for the priesthood. He was nicknamed 'il prete rosso' (the red priest) because of his fiery red hair. His greatness lies mainly in his superb instrumental works, most notably some 500 concerti. This recording was made in the chapel of the remote Austrian village of Klingfurth.
